The Boarding-house system takes care of reception-desk billing and maintains continuous contact with the telephone switchboard. Journal entries on calls from the switchboard are immediately stored on the computer’s hard disk, avoiding the danger of data loss from a power-out.

The system can open an account for the guest. Guest consumption and telephone calls are automatically charged to this account. The bill can indicate the following in the headers:

 

  • guest’s name
  • address
  • room number
  • duration of stay

 

The system can determine the cost of phone calls:

  • by tariff impulse, or
  • by estimated duration of call

 

Supplementary charges may be added to the cost of the call as desired. The amount of the charge may depend on the following parameters:

  • caller’s extension number
  • completed and voided bills
  • bills turnover
  • guest consumption

 

 

If the switchboard is able to receive data from the reception desk computer, the room phones can be set automatically for city-authorizations when the guest arrives or departs.
